By declaring public places as free of smoking is one of the most positive and commendable moves of the current government. Smoking in public offices and other public places has continued to plague non-smokers who are at an increased risk of lung cancer and other diseases from passive smoking. However the effectiveness of this rule will depend on how seriously the government acts to implement it. Previous bans on smoking in public have not been effective and even more senior people on public transport, education institutions and public offices have continued to smoke freely without any resistance from the administration. Due to the respect for their seniority they also have no resistance their junior employees or students. At the same time their violation of rules encourages the juniors to indulge in similar practices. To make sure that the public health is safe from the hazards of smoking it will therefore be vital to enforce the rule from the top end of the institution.

Yea, it works great to keep people home and out of restaurants and theaters where they can’t even smoke outside any more. The less people leave the house, the less they spend, the less need for police, roadway repair and it cuts down on pollution. More time to stay on the internet watching porn alone, now that has to be healthier, right?
