This incident of suicide bombing is being regarded as the most appalling in the history of terrorist bombings in Pakistani cities. Over a 100 people lost their lives, many became disabled, and property worth millions was lost. Despite the repeated incidence of such mayhem, people always find loose security arrangements in the city and that is what is seems to have happened in this case too. Newspaper source report that the explosives-laden car had been parked in the market 3 hours before the blast. The vehicles entering and leaving the market were not being checked and a shopkeeper has expressly regarded lack of security arrangements as mainly responsible for the tragedy. But the public is equally careless of terrorist violence and no measures of personal safety are observed among people who keep coming in throngs to busy markets and put their lives at risk. Perhaps it’s time for the general public and the business-dealers in busy places to sit together and chalk out their own security plans in order to save their lives and property.
